Wedding dresses in Ireland
September 30th, 2008 by stu pendous | Filed under Uncategorized.I was in Youghal, County Cork, recently at a wedding, and was amazed at the elegant clothes people were wearing. Youghal is quite a small town on the south coast, and is a lovely place, but a little old-fashioned in some way.
I was quite surprised to see that the Irish really let their hair down over weddings. I’m talking about the dresses and suits, yes, suits that people were wearing. Really smart, and the dresses were all top designers stuff. Now, I’ll admit that I don’t know much about wedding dresses or dresses for bridesmaids, but I know when I see something really super.
Stunning designer wedding and bridesmaid dresses
I asked another guest, who was local, where they could get Wedding gowns like that, and was told that these were designer dresses by people like Sposa Sposa & Ronald Joyce – at least, I think that’s what I was told. These were bought in Youghal, which is quite a centre for these things, I was told.
The bride’s dress was much as I had expected, except for that low neckline, with a veil and some other wedding accessories. Then, the two bridesmaids, who were barely 20, wore super bridesmaid dresses. Also by famous designers.
The whole thing must have cost a fortune before you include the photographer, the food and the band. A real shindig, it was! I must say I really enjoyed it, and managed not to drink too much – well that’s my opinion.
It seems that the Irish really go for Wedding gowns in a BIG way, and that means they start off by finding a good wedding dress shop, and that they will go a long way to get what they want. Most of these shops only see people by appointment, but they are always busy. Sounds like a good business to me.
